Simien Mountain National Park Trekking

Tour Cover: Addis, Gonder, Debark, Sankaber, Geech, Imetgogo, Quedadit, Seha, Chenek and Bwahit Ras.

Day 01: Fly Gondar then to Sankabar

Fly to Gondar. Upon arrival at Gondar Airport departure for Debark town where the head quarter of Semien Mountains National Park is found. Here we pay the entrance fees and pick a scout and local guide to accompany us. this day you will have short trekking as acclimatization on high mountain more than 3000m asl so we drive and trek to Sankabar (31 Kms) to the first campsite in the National Park. Overnight camping at Sankabar.

Day 02: Trek from Sankabar to Geech 5-6hrs

This is the day that we arrange all the trekking staff including mules and Muleteers for packing, transport of camping gears and all foodstuffs for the trek. It is the that we start trekking in the park we walk for 5-6hrs enjoying wonderful scenery and heard of the endemic Gelada Baboon can be seen on our way to Geech. O/n Camping at Geech Campsite (3600m). 

Day 03: Trek to Quedadit and Seha 4-5hrs

we will be waking to the best viewpoints in the National park. First, we walk to Imetgogo, the view here enables one to look to all directions this is one of the best views in the national park. After a short stay here continue walk to Seha, the other terrific viewpoint in the National park. We will have our picnic lunch and we continue to the last viewpoint, Quedadit. After some stay, we walk back to Geech camp site. The walk this day is not hard; it takes about 4 - 5 hours. Overnight camping at Geech
Day 04: Trek to Chenek 6-7hrs

After breakfast we will be walking through the Giant lobelia trees; African field Rats are common. After picnic lunch we walk on the edge of Enatye escarpments (4000m. above sea level), which is another breathtaking view in the national park; finally, we descend to Chenek. Chenek is the best place to see the endemic Walia Ibex and more Gelada Baboon. O/n Camping at Chenek.

Day 5: Trek to the second peak in the national park

This morning after breakfast we start trek to the second peak in the national Park called Bwahit Ras, it takes about two-hour ascent to the top of the pass at 4200 meters, where we enjoy views that open up to the east over Mesheha Valley to the Dashen mountain range. Looking back, we find ourselves under the cover of the impressive rock formations of Imet Gogo. The rest afternoon will be wandering around Chenek. This site of Chenek has good view and it is also the best spot to observe the Walia Ibex

Day 6: Drive from Chenek to Gondar 150kms

 The vehicle can reach the campsite of Chenek, so they will drive directly from Chenek campsite to Gondar via Debark.

PM our visiting the city will begin from Fasiladas Gibi, there are a dozen castles built by various emperors over the course of 236 years. The city seems more European than African and also has Islamic influences. We will visit Fasiladas' Palace which is probably the most impressive of all the castles found in the area and the oldest one, too! We continue on to the bath of Fasiladas. Finally, visit the Church of Debre Berhan Selassie (Light of the Trinity). The interior of this is decorated with beautiful frescos, cherubs and paintings. Debre Berhan Selassie is rumored to once have been the proposed final resting place of “the Ark of the Covenant”. Overnight at Hotel

Day 7: Fly back to Addis Ababa

After breakfast fly from Gondar to Addis Ababa then check in to your hotel. Overnight at Hotel or transfer to airport and fly back home.
